And work I am doing! Work of all kinds these days. I'm working on dreaming the big dreams first and foremost. I may have mentioned that my dream is to get out from behind a computer screen and create a career for myself where I can get back to being in touch with humanity! So my dream is to open a restaurant! And I'm fully into it. I've been interviewing friends and friends of friends that have succeeded (or failed) in the business for their insights, reading books on the subject, walking around the neighborhood where I'd love it to eventually be, and reading "Infinite Possibilities" for tips on self-actualization and positive thought - learning how thoughts become things and how to make your dreams come true.
I've also been working hard on the mind/body connection. A friend passed along the Oprah and Deepak Chopra 21 day meditation challenge and I'm on day 3 of meditating with that. Loving it so far. Don't know if there's a placebo effect or if it genuinely works, but each of the 3 days have been very stress-free and happy, so perhaps starting each morning that way is doing exactly what it proposes to do! I also joined a Meetup.com group for something called "Open Heart Meditation". It's a very different kind of meditation, where quieting your mind isn't as necessary as in other types of meditation -- something that I have a tremendous problem with! I'll let you know how that goes.
And speaking of Meetup.com groups....I joined another one called "Positive Minded People". This group is lead by a spirited 28 year old man who among other activities leads people on a motivational hike once a month, which I went on on Saturday. It was great! It was about a 5 miles hike - not too strenuous, in the hills above Hollywood and the Griffith Observatory - stopping a couple of times for a motivational talk. Very cool.
I also challenged myself by taking a surfing lesson! I noticed it on Groupon and thought -- here's my chance! And I took that chance. And I did great. I set a goal for myself to get up on the board at least 3 times and I managed to get up 3 times and it was super fun. Now I'm trying to figure out my next steps with surfing. Should I continue and if so, how? Buy a board and wetsuit? Take more lessons? I'm working this out in my head, but I really would like to continue. That, would be a challenge!
And this week will be YOGA week for me. Absolutely, positively, 100%. I've been promising myself that I will add yoga to my routine and keep putting it off, but no more. I will research the schedule and put it on my calendar the second that I publish this post! Adding yoga to my routine could make a huge difference in my body and add to my mind/body connection in a nice positive way that I need.
After setting my surfing goal and meeting it I started thinking about goal setting and wondering if the mind really adjusts itself to goals and works hard to meet those goals - without even exceeding them. So this week I'm going to test this theory and give myself a goal of a 1.5 lb weight loss. I will lose 1.5 lbs this week to bring my total weight loss over 55 lbs. I would like to reach my original 60 lb goal within 3 weeks also.
